~At that moment I felt a warmth that I had never felt before and that I would probably never feel again.~

Today was the day they left. A week had passed and now they had to leave. The exchange students and my schoolmates were all crying- including me. A few of the boys were getting teary eyes, the girls were in tears and the teachers were crying. I gave everyone a big hug and during each hug I was hit by the great memories I had made of everyone. Painting indigenous art, cooking indigenous food, visiting a local zoo and cuddling the native animals and learning one of the nation's favourite sports. At each hug I became more and more depressed as I realised I would never see these people again. Tsubasa was standing in front of me. I gave him one last hug. I wish that hug had lasted longer. Much longer. Partially because I kinda fell for him, but mostly because at that moment I felt a warmth that I had never felt before and that I would probably never feel again.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post this up to see what you all think of this. We had to choose one theme from a list that my teacher thought up and the theme I chose (which was a little unclear as you read through the story then looked at the theme list) is DARKNESS. I got teased by all my classmates because of this story (TT^TT).

Darkness. I opened my eyes and looked around me. The room was dark and all I could see were two glowing red eyes staring back at me. I slowly lifted my limp body and leaned against what felt like my bed frame. The eyes followed my movement as I inspected myself for injuries. Before all of the darkness I remember being attacked by a small bat that lived in my ceiling, I slipped on a bed sheet then I hit my head on something hard.

As I dropped my hand after searching for any lumps on my head I felt a trickle of liquid slide down my neck. I placed my hand over my neck to find the source. SQUELCH! I lifted my hand and inspected what was on it. It was hard to tell what the substance was but the smell was familiar. Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew the window open and moonlight streamed into the room letting me see the blood that was on my hands.

"Crap! Am I bleeding? Why am I bleeding?"

I searched for the bed sheet that I had slipped on earlier and tore off a long strip. As I was about to wrap up my neck the owner of the red eyes moved closer and closer to me- so close in fact that he was standing right above me within a few seconds. I squirmed backwards a little as he reached out to my face.

"I-Is that you Marcus?"

"Please, let me help. It's the least I can do. After all it was my bat..."

He gently lifted me up and placed me onto my bed then took the strip from my hands and wrapped up my neck. I looked into his eyes and noted that the colour was an evil scarlet- a big difference from the usual cocoa. When he had finished wrapping my injury he noticed that I had been staring at his eyes. I quickly removed my stare from him as he pulled up a chair next to the bed.

"I'm sorry if I scared you before I just..."

I turned my face back to him and noticed tears forming in his eyes. I cupped his face in my hand and gave him a small smile.

"It wasn't my fault! Please forgive me. I'm sorry Rona"

I sat up and grabbed onto his shoulders for support. I was still wobbling but I tried to look strong. This was the first time that I had ever seen Marcus cry. I studied the sadness in his eyes and tried to think of what he was crying about. I slowly moved towards him to give him a hug. His skin was soft when I held him and his aroma was strangely addictive. The more I smelt the sweetness the harder it was to pull back from him. I managed to loosen my grip around Marcus slightly and rested my head on his shoulder. Marcus continued sobbing for a few more minutes before he finally said something.

"I'm going to go get you a little snack. How does milk and cookies sound?"

I nodded and gave him the biggest smile I could muster before he stood up and left to get the snack. Once he left I stood up and looked around my room. It was fairly clean compared to what I had expected after my battle with the bat. I noticed that a newspaper was lying on my bedside table. It was the one I was reading before I was attacked by the bat. Beside it was my phone. I picked it up and read a few messages from my friends. All of them said similar things like "Be careful!" and "Stay safe Rona." I continued reading through the strange messages incase there was anything important that I missed out on but one in particular caught my attention. My best friend Josephine had sent me a message which she started with "IMPORTANT!!!" It read:

"Hi R, he's gon crzy. Keeps askin where u r and if u r ok. finally said u r at home then he rushed off 2 c u. Plz be careful, he is dangerus n watever u do, do not go near him or let him near u. J"

I re-read the message several times over to find who Josephine was talking about before I gave up. By the time I had finished with my phone, Marcus was already back with a plate of gingerbread men and a tall glass of milk. I sat down at the edge of the bed next to Marcus and started to eat the biscuits. While I ate Marcus sat quietly with his arm around me. When I had finished my snack I thanked him and said goodnight. He left me alone in my room and as I lay in my bed I thought up many questions to ask Marcus in the morning such as "Are you feeling better now?", "Why was your pet bat in my room?" and "What were you crying about?" As I fell asleep one very good question came to mind: "Why was Marcus in my bedroom?"

I woke up the next morning to see Marcus staring at me. His eyes were glazed but were back to their normal cocoa colour. On my bedside table was a tray with bacon and eggs, two slices of toast and a glass of... Blood!

"What the hell Marcus! Why is there blood in this glass? Who's blood is this anyway?"

Marcus stood up and walked towards me. I looked up at him as he reached out to me. I was scared but I had too many questions to ask him, I had to be strong. As he wrapped his arms around me his eyes changed into the scarlet colour that they were the night before. I closed my eyes and let him hold me closer and closer. I could feel his warm breath against my neck and I flinched as his lips gently pressed my neck.

After this I couldn't remember much. There was a sharp piercing pain in my neck, then a little while afterwards I could taste the savoury flavour of blood meet my lips and enter my mouth. When I finally came to, I found that my canines were abnormally large and my skin was frighteningly pale. I looked around me and was greeted happily by Marcus. I looked at the side table and saw that he had prepared the same meal as the morning before. This time I ate everything without complaint and drank the blood that was in the glass, "Vintage Peasant 1769". He smiled at me as I asked him who's blood I drank before I passed out and he gladly told me it was his own that he made especially for me.
